Story Behind the Song
This song took me a few weeks to write. I tinkered with the music until I got it just right, and subsequently used it for an extra credit assignment in my chemistry class. For a painful week, I stumbled over lyrics, trying to make sense of this song. As in all my songs, this one is particularly melodramatic, but its just a few poetic hyperbolies.
Lyrics
There's no lighthouse to keep me from running aground
But here I am still lying face down
I've got a cut on my soul, but not a chip on my shoulder
With this oil to patch my wounds as the
darkness falls down
and I'm not sure how to catch it
and I just don't know what I'm fighting for
don't tear me down, I'm already on the ground
I'm not sure how it feels
to be me
Eyes to the sky, hands clasped whispering to myself
Will I be saved?
It's a guessing game no less but can I feel it down
under what I show out and I won't be
dragged down
but I hope they know to catch me
and I just don't know what I'm fighting for
don't tear me down, I'm already on the ground
I'm not sure how it feels
to be me
but I hope they know to catch me
and I just don't know what I'm fighting for
don't tear me down, I'm already on the ground
I'm not sure how it feels
when darkness falls
but I hope they know to catch me
and I just don't know what I'm fighting for
don't tear me down, I'm already on the ground
I'm not sure how it feels
to be me
