Story Behind the Song
This song is based on three true stories; here is one of them:
Two English friends were on a cycling holiday in the French Pyrenees. It was hot and dry. They stopped a passing car and asked for water; the driver took a photograph of them as they drank.
Years later, the two were at a friend’s apartment in Salt Lake City, USA.
An Australian man there insisted he had met them once before. They could not place him. The man called his mother in Sydney and asked her to Fed-ex the proof to him. The next morning a photograph arrived of two sweaty cyclists in the mountains.
Lyrics
She tells me of the dreams she keeps,
Inside a box inside her shoes,
And everything seems to be wrong,
But she wakes up with the stars.
Before the morning ever glows,
She always seems to find a place,
To hide her wings inside this room,
Where all the lights are golden blue.
SHE KEEPS MOSQUITOS
IN A BROKEN GLASS
OUT ON THE LAWN
NEXT TO A MASK OF
THE PRINCE OF DARKNESS
GLOWING IN THE PINK MOONLIGHT
UNTIL THE DAWN
He walks around his eyes shut tight,
Never really sees a thing,
Though he claims to know the world,
And all the things that sleep with in it.
She can see him walking round,
His hair is crying to the floor,
And all the things he does she calls him,
And he goes to see her.
SHE KEEPS MOSQUITOS
IN A BROKEN GLASS
OUT ON THE LAWN
NEXT TO A MASK OF
THE PRINCE OF DARKNESS
GLOWING IN THE PINK MOONLIGHT
UNTIL THE DAWN
Lost on a mountain oh so high,
When they stop to take a drink,
But soon they quickly realize,
That they have no water with them.
A friendly guy he passes by,
Offers water made from wine,
He says he knows them and their lives,
And by now they should be friends.
SHE KEEPS MOSQUITOS
IN A BROKEN GLASS
OUT ON THE LAWN
NEXT TO A MASK OF
THE PRINCE OF DARKNESS
GLOWING IN THE PINK MOONLIGHT
UNTIL THE DAWN
