Story Behind the Song
This took ages to write.
It's a song about the fear of dying. Ferg, who wrote the lyrics, was going to meet up with his lecturer’s daughter in South America, whom he’d never met before but had heard a lot about. Unfortunately she died in a white water rafting accident just before he left and her body was never recovered.
Lyrics
Said that I'd go away
Some kind of holiday
Follow these footsteps, but find
I just want to hide away
Tell some white lies today
Can't face the thought that you died
Just like that film we saw
Capricorn 34
The hero stole out the back door
But I'm trying to get closer to
Someone I never knew
Someone that I'll never know
Touch down
Nobody around
If you got no wings
You'll hit the ground
Touch down
Nobody around
Nobody there to meet me
No one to meet me
No one to meet me
Touch down
I'll turn around
Gonna follow in
Your trodden ground
Touch down
I'll turn around
Won't let this fear defeat me
Won't defeat me
No, no, no, no, no
You won't defeat me
You were washed down stream
We beat Jesus
Staying down
It did not please us
Washed down stream
We beat Jesus
By one
Washed down stream
We beat Jesus
The high tail winds
It did not please us
Words of warning
Washed down stream
Because a moments strong
Will not defeat us
Washed down stream
We beat Jesus
Washed down stream
We beat Jesus by one
