	Story Behind the Song The first tune to surface in its entirety since my Father's death in July. I've had many tidbits and pieces of songs come out, but I cannot seem to finish them off. Writer's Block? who knows.. I finally had a few days where I could set my gear up, and see what I could make out of the basic..Daddy Can You Hear Me line.. which I have had for quite some time. The bridge was a complete other song idea that I forged together. I didn't really know what to do for a solo section..so I just miked up the Combo Amp (a Peavey Sheffield Bandit..for prax purposes)... and tried a solo..it is straight off the cuff as if you could not tell. The harmony licks I thought would be cool...that took a few times. Basically all the guitar trax are the Yamaha 12-string acoustic... and it layers from the 1st verse on. Each verse adds a little picking part to add texture, by the last verse there are three sections at different octaves. The keyboard is a Yamaha 640...the drum track is a basic one on the keyboard...no finger drums this time around. The lead was played with a Hamer STD electric. Nothing fancy just a Shure SM 58, a Quadraverb, and me. As you'd expect the song was very difficult to sing at first...it took a long time to get lyrics I could live with. I have pages of lyrics that I had to sort through. The Chorus lyric isn't really that good..simply things I guess..someday maybe I'll hit a better line that'll say better what I want to say, and I can go back and change it. The bridge vocals were very hard to do dry (that is, without alcohol!). They are scratchy, but I like that feel..and left it. The bass guitar was direct, and drop D tuned altho the guitar wasn't. I wanted that low D. Someday I'll learn how to really record, or have someone who does know..do it!! Lyrics Daddy Can You Hear Me? Daddy Can You Hear Me Now? Daddy Can You See Me?
