This is an acoustic/pop folkie sort of tune. A radio friendly deal. It's a good general pop tune.

    Story Behind the Song
This song is very specific in parts regarding who the song pertains to. It basically details what its like to be around someone for a long time and then suddenly have the person stripped away with nothing you can do about it. I wrote this song in about an hour one night around christmas time. It all seem to come together perfectly. I recorded the tune at a session in January 2003 with my wonderful band.

    Lyrics
If I told you all about me
And if I wrote out my will tonight
Do you think that you're included?
And do you think you'd even put up a fight

Because I know that you're aware now
Of the absense we spend this year
But it's over now and forgotten
Because we sat down and had a few beers

And would you drive to Maine and back just to pick me up
And would you write me a song to wish me good luck

    (chorus)
When I tell you my friend
    When will this absense end
    Because every time it does
    I feel its the end

You know my girlfriend lives two hundred miles away now
And I see her more than you
You live two stops down the green line
And yet we never seem to make it through

I know its just as much my fault yeah
That's why I sing this song to myself
Instead of you I think it's better
If I sit down and reason things out

And do you fill my name in as you're emergency contact info
you know I do that for you my friend
I've done it all my life

    (chorus)
    (end)
