Story Behind the Song
Written for my sister wedding. "Fair winds, following seas" is a phrase used in sea-going services such as the Coast Guard and Navy to wish someone farewell when they depart your station or leave the service. My sister is marrying a Navy man and at the same time leaving the family...so I thought the term to be fitting.
Lyrics
Sunlight will shine on your hearts entwined, running like a river free. Cause your love's divine, a heaven sent sign, like a cool summers breeze. I wish you both fair winds, following seas.
I don't know how the fates have allowed you to hear each others pleas. So let me sing on for those who are gone, watch them from above please. I wish you both fair winds, following seas.
And I believe in you, I do.
And I can see its true, you two.
I wish you both fair winds, following seas.
