A song of peace, a rallying cry for all those who, out of fear and frustration, seem to be silent when it comes to dissent in these times of world crises.

    Story Behind the Song
As a member of the entertainment industry, I am shocked by the silence of my peers in this time of crises. I feel that it is our responsibility to raise our voices, to use our talents to spread a message of dissent, in a time when much of the media is controlled by corporate interests. This song is meant to stimulate others to use their voices, to write songs of protest, to represent those who seem to afraid to speak of their own opinions,.

    Lyrics
Weapons of Mass Instruction ©2003 James Gordon

    1. Here amongst the trappings of wealth
We seem to sit idly by,
    And watch our leaders
    Slowly bleed our
    planet dry.
    2. Once an entire generation
    Sang of our discontent.
    Before corporations
    Stole our nation
    And silenced our dissent.

Chorus: But we have weapons of mass instruction,
    More powerful than guns..
    Silent too long,
    But they are strong
    They can reach to everyone...
    These weapons are our voices...
And our target is greed and HATE...
It’s time for us to aim
    With our songs again
And fire before it’s too late
And fire before it’s too late....

Verse 3. In our priveledge and our complacence
    In our cynisism too,
    We’ve decided
    Our hands are tied,
    There’s nothing we can do...
Verse 4. Is a life’s worth less than a barrel of oil?,
    Does our consumerism blind us,
    who will sing
    For all the things
That we have left behind us?

    Repeat Chorus:

Verse 5. Let us attack with a volley of protest
Legions of singers to the fore...
    Make it loud
    Enough to drown
    out the drums of war....

Half Chorus: But we have weapons of mass instruction
    More powerful than guns..
    Silent too long,...
    but they are strong
    They can reach to everyone...
    They can reach to everyone.v
