Story Behind the Song
Inspired by the Matrix movie trilogy and the BBC Novel "Matrix". The lyrics relate the matrix world and weather we know if we are there or not. Recorded January 2002 as part of Digital Winter. Remastered following feedback for final release.
Lyrics
when I wake up from dreams that make no sense,
in a daze, for a while, to a world, that's intense,
gulp down sweet hot coffee, smoke a cigarette,
dress and wash, too rushed to shave, no time to regret,
there are no seats on the 8:15 to nonspecific street,
and there is no joy in the strangers that I meet,
tubes been delayed and cfc's on overload,
late again but they think it's a tail that I've told,
home time, but I wonder where the sun was today,
turn the key and hope the stress will go away,
as I lay down to reenter the land of dreams,
is this the life that's real or not what it seems,
touch, taste, smell, see, hear,
is this an irrational fear,
is my mind playing tricks,
or could this world be part of a matrix,
as I fall to sleep from a world that makes no sense,
feels wonderful when dreams are so intense,
fields of forever, sweet music and colours so bright,
oblivious to the silence of the black and white,
I can fly, I impress, I'm invincible,
the beauty of my lady is just incredible,
whatever happens, we are so happy together,
then as she kissed me I was small and green forever,
am I a man dreaming that I was a frog,
or in the real world am I creature on a log,
I can hear in the distance artificial bells,
swiftly I lose most of the joy my mind tells,
