Story Behind the Song
Tom wrote the first line of lyrics, and the opening riff of this song, and Mike G. wrote the rest in SON's only real co-write that got recorded. When mixing this tune down from 24 track at Five Towns College's Studio A, we were rushed out of the studio so they could close for the night. It was the last session we had there, and we needed to finish that night. We didn't realize it in the fuss that the kick drum somehow didn't make it to the final mix... Someday we will go back and fix that!
Lyrics
Every man is on his own, we all want to be the same. We don't want to live or die, as long as I am still alive. So please don't tell us where to go. We don't want to know the way. We're alive, tell me now, are you too? See the time up on the wall. See it fly and say goodnight. Imagine what you'll be this time. I hope this time you'll get it right. One more chance to prove yourself - we're all watching what you do. We're alive, tell me now, are you too? Tell a lie, tell the truth, it's all the same, boy. We don't lie, what you see is what you get, boy. Tell a lie, tell me now are you afraid, boy? One last time, tell me now, are you afraid, boy?
Go and lie to me. Try to flatter me. When will you see? No, no no, that you will not succeed. 'Cause thanks to you, I know the way now. All you know is all I need. And will I come back down tomorrow? Guess we'll have to wait and see... We live tomorrow. I, I'll not follow. When will you see? No, no no, you will not succeed.
