Story Behind the Song
Storms in Summerland was written from a true runaways perspective and outlook on life in times of trouble after running away from his family and problems. Only to find that the answer is really in the heart. It was written with in a couple of days hard work. The song was immediately added to the CD and took just a few hours to record the basic rythm of the song. The vocals and the lead guitar work were record with in a couple of days of each other and were done in just a couple of takes.
Lyrics
STORMS IN SUMMERLAND
Sitting down by the fire, the sky grows dark in front of me, the beach is lonely I remember, the storm is out there in the sea.
Rain falls down in the distance, and from where I stand I can see, yeah I know troubles there, but I think I’ll just stay here on the beach.
Everything is how you see it, the morning rain drifts from the sea, people fade, the storm is closer, I’m the only one who didn’t leave.
Momma please can you help me, a run away child on my own, 12 years old, on the corner, smiles for you all I want.
And youth is washed away, and the innocence replaced.
Our tomorrows are today’s, in the things we face, and the scars of yesterdays, try to hold on, we’ve forgotten how…to play.
Sleepless nights I remember, tears falling in the rain, a naïve young man turns colder, the light in his eyes turn to pain.
Blame the world for the hard times, tears dry up, and turn to rage, no more games its me or them now, a young heart of love has turned to hate…
And the cry for help is gone, he has learned to walk alone, and the youth will play no more, as the old man walks the shores.
And he sits there and stares, at the seas of yesterdays, he never left there,
now his hair is gray, see he never found love, he don’t believe in faith, we’ll pray help from above, but he says its too late, too late…too late
