Story Behind the Song
This Song was initially Written for a very Dear friend of mine in Houston Texas, Mr. Roy Nichols.. Who Inspired me to do this. Because he is Deaf and despite that fact, he would still come out to see our band perform and would follow us just about everywhere we went. He came to see us before i knew this, and when i found out i asked him how he could dance so well, when he was unable to hear ? His wife explained that he felt the bass in his feet. Well, I got to work and wrote this for him, and all deaf people everywhere. And after it was finished, we would do the song live on stage, and as i sang it, another band member used sign language to tell him what the words said while we performed it. After Roy read the words for the first time he wept, and I told him that i wished that he could hear it so bad. And he said " I Will hear it one Day, When i go to Heaven "... Bless you all
Lyrics
"THE WALLS OF SILENCE"
VERSE 1:
HE SEE'S THE CHILDREN PLAY, WISHED HE COULD HEAR THEM LAUGH.
OH WHAT HE WOULDNT GIVE TO SAY, "HEY YOU GUYS I HEARD THAT."
HE SPENDS HIS EVERYDAY, IN A WORLD THAT WE DONT KNOW.
A LAND FILLED WITH SILENCE, WHERE MUSIC NEVER GOES.
CHORUS:
HE'S NEVER HAD THE JOY OF LISTENING TO THE SPARROWS SING.
AND WHEN THE THUNDER SHAKES THE GROUND, TO HIM IT DOESNT MEAN A THING HE ALWAYS WEARS A SMILE WHEN HE COMES AROUND.
HOPING SOMEDAY, HE'LL BREAK THE WALLS OF SILENCE DOWN.
VERSE 2:
HE'S NEVER HEARD THE SOUND, OF THE FALLING RAIN.
AS IT MAKES IT'S WAY FROM THE SKY, DOWN TO HIS WINDOW PANE.
STILL HE NEVER SAYS A WORD, AS IF HE HAD A CHOICE.
JUST ONCE HE'D LIKE TO HEAR THE SOUND, OF HIS OWN VOICE.
CHORUS:
TAG: HE ALWAYS WEARS A SMILE, WHEN HE COMES AROUND...HOPING SOMEDAY, HE'LL BREAK THE WALLS OF SILENCE DOWN. MAYBE ONE DAY, HE'LL BREAK THE WALLS OF SILENCE.....DOWN.
