    Story Behind the Song
I heard a "catchy" bass line on a commercial for a diet product, and started playing around with it. As I added instruments, it took on it's own life which provided me with a "suggestion" for the lyric content. Other than some polish and minor modifications, the lyrics to my songs usually don't take me more than a half hour. The recording, on the other hand.... a gazillion takes and marathon session.... a labor of love and obsession.

    Lyrics
    Hey

Hey, Baby. I’m not looking for a fight.
C’mon, Baby. I’m not looking for a fight.
    But I just can’t understand,
Why you stayed out all last night.

Did you visit a sick friend, or have a family emergency?
Did your car break down? Were you involved in a felony?
It had to be pretty important, because you know you promised me,
To meet me at our favorite place, for our anniversary.

Hey, baby. I know something isn’t right.
    It’s clear that something happened.
And it happened just last night.

Why won’t you tell me what it was?

    Lead

Did your Daddy Have a heart attack? Did you have to work real late?
Do you just have too much going on? Is there too much on your plate?
There’s got to be a good reason, why you missed this important date.
If you can’t simply tell me the truth, then at least prevaricate.

Hey baby. I know, something isn’t right.
It’s clear that something’s going on.
And it started just last night.

    Lead

Hey, Baby. I’m not looking for a fight.
C’mon, Baby. I’m not looking for a fight.
But just give me one good reason,
Why you stayed out all last night.
