    Story Behind the Song
The article from the Daily Bulletin in the Inland Empire is pasted below:

Upland woman killed by suspected drunken driver
    By DAVID BRADVICA
    STAFF WRITER

RIALTO — A 48-year-old Upland mother of two was struck and killed by an alleged drunken driver Saturday night, authorities said.

Authorities said 23-year-old Rodolfo Gallardo was driving in the wrong direction on the westbound side of Highland Avenue near Alder Avenue when his 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier struck a minivan nearly head-on shortly before 11:30 p.m.

The driver of the 1993 Toyota minivan, Chunhui "Angel' Wang, was trapped inside her vehicle and had to be extricated by Rialto firefighters using the Jaws of Life, Rialto police Cpl. Steve Mastaler said.

Wang was taken by ambulance to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton, where she was pronounced dead at 2:10 a.m. Sunday morning, San Bernardino County Supervising Deputy Coroner Randy Emon said.

Gallardo's Cavalier was struck by a second minivan after it came to rest after hitting the Toyota. The second collision caused only minor damage to both vehicles and no further injuries. Gallardo attempted to run away but was later located by Fontana police officers and brought back to the scene, Mastaler said.

Gallardo was booked into West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga on suspicion of felony drunken driving and gross vehicular manslaughter. His bail was set at $1 million, a jail spokeswoman said.

Police say that Gallardo's Cavalier was eastbound on Highland when he attempted to pass another vehicle using the dirt shoulder. As the Cavalier attempted to return to the roadway, the driver lost control and drove into the westbound lanes where he struck Wang's 1993 Toyota Previa.

News of Wang's death spread quickly throughout her large circle of family and friends, her daughter Angela said in a telephone interview Sunday night.

"All day we've had family and friends come over,' said Angela, 24, a student at UCLA. "My mom always had time for her family and friends. She would do anything for them.'

Wang, whose family immigrated to the U.S. from Taiwan in the 1980s, made sure her two daughters - Angela and Ginger, 18 - had everything that they wanted, whether it was piano lessons or the financial and moral support to be admitted to top universities such as UCLA and UC Berkeley, where Ginger is a student.

"She made so many little sacrifices for us,' Angela said. "She was a great wife to my dad. She was a great mom. She believed in God. She was very selfless. I still don't understand how this happened.'

Wang is also survived by her husband, Alex, and her parents, who both reside in Monterey Park.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to call Cpl. Steve Mastaler at (909) 421-7214 or Officer James Snow at (909) 421-7200.

    Lyrics
    I'm worn out from groaning
    Flood my bed with weeping
And drench my couch with tears
My eyes grow weak with sorrow
They fail because of all my foes

Why O Lord do you stand far off,
Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble?

    Chorus

Answer me when I call to you!
    O my precious God,
Give me relief from my distress
Be merciful and hear my prayer

I will lie down and sleep in peace
    for you O Lord (repeat)
    Make me dwell in safety

Away from me all you who do evil
For the Lord has heard my weeping
and the Lord has heard my cry for mercy
    The Lord accepts my prayer.

Why O Lord do you stand far off,
Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble?

    Chorus

Why O Lord do you stand far off,
Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble?
