Story Behind the Song
The motivation for this, and any of my songs, is the urge/compulsion to create. This song was born from a variation of a standard 1-4-5 Blues shuffle and a 1-6-2-5 turn around that was just fun to play. After playing (with) the music for a while, the lyrics suggested themselves, which, once started, only took about a half hour to write. In my typical compulsive fashion, I spent a good 24 hours, without a break, recording it with an uncoutable number of takes.

Blues For My Baby

Hey Buddy, I’m looking for my baby.
Haven’t seen her for a week and it’s making me crazy.
She took off and left me all alone,
And I haven’t found out where she’s gone.
So if you see her, won’t you send her home to me,
Cuz I got the Blues for my Baby.
We had ourselves a little fight.
Over something stupid, but I had to be right.
She got really upset, but I didn’t know,
That if I didn’t back down, she was ready to go.
She left and didn’t say a word to me.
Now I got the Blues for my Baby.
She’s been gone for much too long.
Don’t know if she’s ever coming home.
She didn’t stay with her sister, or her mother.
I even called her baby brother.
Won’t somebody please send her home to me,
Cuz I got the Blues for my Baby.
Hey Buddy, won’t you give me some help?
Just don’t know what to do with myself.
I’m climbing the walls going out of my mind.
So I’m going to ask you just one more time.
If you see her, please send her home to me,
Cuz I got the Blues for my Baby
I got the Blues, the Blues for my Baby.
Yeah, the Blues, the Blues for my Baby.
Got the Blues, the Blues for my Baby.
I really love her and I miss her like crazy.
Got the Blues for my Baby.
