    Story Behind the Song
The groove was something I put together back before Thanksgiving last year. Ihad a vague idea of the lyrical content but lot's of things stood between me and writing it all down back then.
I had been going through a period of recurring nightmares;real anxious, paranoic narratives where I had committed a crime but couldn't remember
what it was. There were secret governments. The earth was ecologically
deteriorating. It was all too much like concensus reality!
    I'd awaken feeling disoriented, anxious,
depressed. I isolated hoping to sleep away the cycle but this only served to increase my alienation.
I recalled Jung's writing regarding alienation.
So the lyrics were informed by
these dreams and my best attempt to put it all in perspective.
    I came through it with an imperative to act;
to do something bold to bust out of my own mediocrity: hence the "...throw your stone".
Last week I fired up the K-1600 and layed down my first vocal track for position. I worked out some vocal stuff, some additonal guitar tracks.
Yesterday I set out to finish the song. I nailed the first and second lead vocal in five takes. The harmony in two. Once these were in place I hauled out my sweet little Epiphone SG, plugged it into my RAT, ran it through an old Alesis Mini
Verb and called it a cut!
I applied some simple compression, boosting vocals but retaining the strength of the music and rythym. Total recording time: 16 hours.

    Lyrics
    Throw Your Stone

we dream this dream of life alone
    this shattered vase
we dream this dream of life alone
    these fractured bones
and send the windhorse on his way
    this dorje sword
we dream this dream of life alone
    this living word

we dream this life we live alone
    my father's eyes
we dream this life we live alone
    my mother's smile
and all the while i dance inside my skin
    these bonds and bones
we dream this life we live alone
    so throw your stones

    look away
    look away
    throw your stones

we dream this life we dream alone
    are you awake?
we dream this life we dream alone
    and many sleep
sad pension pray the dying lord
    my soul to keep
we dream this life we dream alone
    our faith to leap!
