	Full orchestral piece in three short movements. It is also only the second piece of music I have ever written.
	Story Behind the Song The overture is only a small part of a much larger project which is entitled "Athenia". The project is akin to the "concept albums" of the late '60's - early '70's, much like Rick Wakeman's "Journey to the Center of the Earth". Athenia centers on Athens, Greece, during the fourth and fifth centuries BCE. The story is the rise and fall of the Athenian Empire which left a legacy that is still with us 2500 years later. Western Civilization and Democracy, as we know it today, would not have come into being were it not for the great thinkers of the period. Athenia describes it all through music and words, a veritable trip back in time. The piece took about a month to compose, arrange and master. All instrumentation is done with samples and a midi controller, sequenced in Cubase SX and wave edited in Soundforge. Lyrics There are no lyrics in the overture. There will be in the rest.
