Wait (Acoustic Version) is a simple story told by a voice and a guitar. The mysterious guitar melodies back a lyrical narrative that speaks of anticipation, dedication, and the eagerness to see what’s to come. As the song says, the only true way to overcome these feelings is to hang around and find out. |

Story Behind the Song
The "row row row your boat" echo effect in the break was actually an accident. Scott did two separate vocal tracks, because he wasn't happy with the first one. We ended up using the second track for all the verses, but we layered them both on top of James' background in the choruses and the break. There's also a subtle hum-noise underneath the second verse that you can hear if you listen for it. Also, the tapping sounds right before the second chorus ("like the ticking pass of time...") actually required both James and Scott to pull off. James struck the strings, while Scott tapped the guitar body.
Lyrics
If it comes down to it I’ll show you the way
I’ve been writing this for days
In the letter I wrote that you’d be sorely missed
So far away you don’t exist
CHORUS
And we’ll wait
And we’ll see
And we’ll wait
Wait, wait, wait, wait
I’m not responsible – No, blame just isn’t here
The frightening ending is so near
Concealed in melody and in between the lines
It’s like the ticking pass of time
CHORUS
We’ll wait, and we’ll wait
And we’ll see, and we’ll see
And we’ll wait, and we’ll see
And we’ll wait, and we’ll wait, and we’ll wait
CHORUS
