Story Behind the Song
Steve has written this song about the area of the US that he has grown to love, the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Since moving to the area, Steve started the band, Shen Fine, and has written several songs for them including this one.
The tune was recorded in one take around a single microphone, old time style.
Lyrics
We were traveling down the Valley Road to Shenandoah, the promised land.
Rich earth smell of fertile fields,
The houses tall and grand.
Hear the heavy mill wheels grinding,
And covered bridges span,
the winding river along the Valley Road.
