Story Behind the Song
I run, so long and hard I run. Trying to escape my perceived trappings of religion. But, I realize that it is not religion that grants salvation, rather my relationship with Christ. This song was written as a conversation with God. He calls to us, and sometimes we turn away. We believe in our hearts that He has left us, when in reality, He is simply waiting.
Lyrics
I see you, as I look across the oceans,
and I tell you that I love you patiently.
I miss you, as you turn your heart away,
as I open up my arms you run away.
I love you, all my heart I give away,
and I’ll never leave you lonely, can’t you see?
I’ll keep you, close beside me all the way,
and I know that you’ll return to me some day.
My child, let salvation set you free.
My child welcome home.
My child, let your spirit run to me.
My child welcome home.
You are there, when I feel the pain inside me,
though I still deny your presence.
You are there, as I fall upon my knees,
I am crying up to heaven, ‘set me free’.
You are near, as I stumble on the pain I hide inside,
and you take me in your arms and you are near.
You are here, and I call upon you Lord to comfort me,
and I hear you calling...
My child I am here, there’s no need to fear,
as I am waiting, I am waiting.
My child can’t you see, my love is free,
and I am waiting, I am waiting.
