	Story Behind the Song This is a song about how we all try to be civilised, but underneath we are all slippery as hell. Kim and I wrote and recorded it together at home, quite quickly, in October 2002. It started off as backing for another song and grew into its own skin. Lyrics Slippery people live slippery lives We are slippery husbands and slippery wives And we all live in houses with slippery roofs With our fingernail hopes and our slippery truths And if slippery people can slip into line We can stick to each other for just enough time To stand on our feet for a second or two To see if there’s anything worth clinging to Slippery people wear slippery clothes We have slippery fingers and slippery toes We wear slippery trousers with slippery zips We have slippery tongues in our slippery lips And if slippery people could just take a chance To think of it all as a circular dance We could stand in the middle, stop taking sides See that we’re all living slippery lives
