Story Behind the Song
I use the time riding my bike to write stuff, letting it bounce around in my head. It was Easter time, the Passion story was in my mind.
The recording was the 3rd try with different producers. They just heard the whole thing. Kerry heard what I heard and it went very smoothly.
Lyrics
1
Cold, dark nights I see Him
When I feel most all alone
I see a man in a gardent
kneeling 'fore a wall of stone
He cried Father, I'm so frightened and alone
He cried Father, I don't think I can go on
Not my will, Lord, but, thine

So they took Him from the garden
Hung Him on a criminal's tree
I heard Him cry out, just before He died
Heard Him callin out to Thee
He cried, Forgive them Father,
They know not what they do.
forgive them, Father,
I will bring them home to You
Not my will, Lord, but, thine
=============================
3
Doubtful men of vision
saw the stone was rolled away
He broke bread with His broken hands
Just so He could hear them say
They cried Master,
we're so frightened and alone
They cried Master, we don't think
we can go on
Not my will, Lord, but, thine
=============================
4
Father, I stand before thee
Just a sinner among men
Oh my Lord, wont ya Take my hand wont ya
Draw me near to Thee again
Forgive me, Father,
I'm so frightened and alone
Forgive me Father,
I don't think I can go on
Not my will, Lord, but, thine
