Story Behind the Song
We wrote and recorded this song in like one night, just messin around with the guys over a few beers. Ben was trying to learn guitar (and failing miserably), Matt was trying to work out some of his (many) girl issues, and Greg was just looking for something to do and had just finished washing the all important tupperwear drums.
Lyrics
Things were going well...and I was happy.
Up on cloud nine..then I found she.
Her name is sweet, as I can tell.
Love so tender, but I know I'm in hell.
I am turned, side to side.
Makin' me feel like I'm on a fucked up ride.
I love her dearly but she falls away from me.
My biggest fear is if I must set her free.
She's a loving woman and I wish I could see, what's her petty game.....and what its got ta do with me?
By and by, when we first met.
I thought to myself, man I was set.
We got along, oh so great.
On our first night, became our first date.
We made out hard, all night long.
Till the light of morn, and nothing was wrong.
She's a loving woman and I wish I could see, what's her petty game.....and what its got ta do with me?
Then came dinner, every night.
Each little thing, felt very right.
I met her parents, I up no fight.
They liked me, I think it gave her a fright.
I met her friends, for all I could see.
She had every reason to be with me.
She's a loving woman and I wish I could see, what's her petty game.....and what its got ta do with me?
Next came love, the thought of (us together?)
Fun loving games, always getting better.
Then came a break, and we had to part.
Christmas with santa, almost broke my heart.
When it was over, I got back with her.
All things were great, then she threw me a curve.
She's a loving woman and I wish I could see, what's her petty game.....and what its got ta do with me?
She no longer, wanted it to be.
The same as it was, so close to me.
She wanted her distance.
She wanted her space.
Trying to avoid, that look on my face.
Now I am lonely, and all I can do,
is wait for her; while I'm looking at you.
She's a loving woman and I wish I could see, what's her petty game.....and what its got ta do with me?
....and what its got ta do with me.
