	Story Behind the Song This was the first finished composition done on new equipment purchased in the fall of 2000. Having more than eight tracks to record on opened up a whole new world. This song exists due to my preoccupation with mortality and the finality of death. The song was sparked by a car crash my wife and I witnessed when coming back home from a weekend getaway in Wisconsin. We sat for hours on a closed highway and when we were able to pass the accident scene, the sight was absolutely disturbing. We had learned that people had died. While we were waiting in traffic, we also heard the news about Dale Earnhart (not a huge fan of NASCAR but he was a respected person nonetheless). That long ride home gave me time to think. The next day, in the shower, the theme of the song popped into my head and didn't let go. It was started in February 2001 and completed early spring of that year. By far my darkest piece.
