Story Behind the Song
One morning when I was getting ready for work, I was looking in the mirror. As I gazed into my eyes, I felt like I could see myself as a little girl looking back at me. As I put this thought into words, the song was there. I believe life can be lived to its fullest when we approach it with the wonderful qualities found in a child. Read in St. Matthew 18:3-4, ". . . Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven."
Lyrics
THE CHILD IN ME
by Linda E. McKeeth 10/13/02
Sometimes I look into the mirror deep into my eyes,
And see looking back at me a little girl inside.
She is full of hope and wonderment.
She is there to teach me how life should be spent.
Chorus:
Oh, I wouldn't want to be
Without the child in me.
Oh, I wouldn't want to be that at all.
So each morning I will take
A little time to make
A promise through the day I will recall.
Bridge:
I will find joy, joy in little things.
I'll let my soul soar with wings.
Teachable, I will be.
Forgiveness, find in me.
I will be trusting and loving.
For I wouldn't want to be without the child in me.
If you look into the mirror deep into your eyes,
And see looking back at you a little child inside.
Who is full of hope and wonderment.
Just let him teach you how life should be spent.
Chorus
