	Story Behind the Song Like most the stuff I write, this one came about jamming on a Fender Telecaster. The lyrics came after the music was recorded. It is basically a loose autobiographical take on my life when I was younger. Lyrics I can't believe the state of mind I'm in It seems my learning curve turned out to be a danged hairpin Too many late nights steppin' out with long tall Sally - Drinkin' George Dickle whiskey fightin' in the alleys It's no wonder they say you're throwin'your whole danged life away (CHORUS 1) Honky Tonkin'- Till closin' time Double shots - and Mad Dog wine Two steppin' - till my feet turn blue Just playin' the fool Just a juke joint joyride, pretendin' I got money to burn Can barely hold a job but still I spend more money than I earn But when I take the stage I leave nobody guessin', playin' guitars loud is my one and only blessin' It's no wonder they say you're throwin' your whole danged life away (CHORUS 2) I like rockin'- all thru the night Play my chops - this band's so tight Don't play covers - all these riffs are mine lay it on the line (gratuitous guitar solo) The moral of the story ain't that hard don't ever go out and buy your son an electric guitar He's bound to forget about all the golden rules, too danged busy with his band to do his studies at school You'll be rueing the day you helped him throw his life away (REPEAT CHORUS 1)
