Story Behind the Song
Mother Goose's little boy in the field is abandoned and heartbroken now living on the streets and limping about. That's just how bad I felt when I wrote the song and used this particular fable character to exrepss my grief. It started out as a very simple acoustic blues song but really developed with some hot effects, solos, and overdubs.
Lyrics
I remember you,
You remember me too,
Walking down the Street, our eyes they meet,
You pass me by, and wonder why I look the way I do,
In tattered shoes.. I'm Crippled Boy Blue
(chorus)
Oh, Power trip soup spoon crippled boy blue,
Affairs to remember pay the devil his due,
One life to live for till the day that we die,
Chains to bare with us till the edge of time...
I remember you,
You remember me too,
Running through the fields when we were young,
And full of life, I looked into your eyes,
And swore I'd never leave you
(chorus)
Crippled Boy Blue what happen to you?
Never turn back carry on through,
Never found out Never knew,
Recall sheep in the meadow and cows in the corn,
Where'd you go wrong, why you so poor?
Sold off your horn for a decent meal,
To play it again you long to feel,
Crippled boy blue what happen to you?
Never Turn back carry on through
