Story Behind the Song
The Lord gave me this song one day as I pondered if I had missed His way. The realization came as I began to play on the keyboard that we all drift away like sheep and each need God to lead us back home. By a mircale from God, I recorded 7 songs from the "Just Fine" album in one day and returned on subsequent days to complete the vocals and string parts.
Lyrics
LEAD ME HOME
DENISE A. DOVEL
January 2002
Here I am hurting, broken at the core,
Lord, can I hear Your voice anymore?
Prone to wander, did I miss Your grace?
Oh, Lord, I long to see Your face.
I need You now, Lord –
Oh LEAD ME HOME to Your arms of grace;
When I cannot see how far I’ve strayed.
So I’ll come back to You as You LEAD ME HOME.
Here I am waiting, looking for Your hand,
How did I get to where I am?
Still on this journey, walking by Your side,
Oh, Lord, lead me, be my guide.
I need You now, Lord.
We all like sheep have gone astray –
But He’s calling us back to His way.
Oh LEAD ME HOME to Your arms of grace;
When I cannot see how far I’ve strayed.
So I’ll come back to You as You LEAD ME HOME.
LEAD ME HOME, Lord.
LEAD ME HOME.
