    Story Behind the Song
This is another old rock song redone with my own lyrics. I started playing this on a dulcimer I built a few years ago, but couldn't remember what it was until about a year ago when I heard it on the radio. So now I play in on my electric dulcimer and other instruments

    Lyrics
Although they’re making up all the rules
    They’re breaking them all around
“Do as we say not as we do”
    Their hypocrisy abounds

    Its never alright
    It can’t be alright
It feels so wrong in my heart
    If we could only
    Make them less phony
We’d make ourselves a new start

“You’ve got to be more generous
Just give more while we’re on the take
You’ve got to be more genuine
While we’ll just be more fake”

“You’ve got to be more peaceful
As you see we’re still preparing for war
You’ve got to learn to live with less
While we’ll find ways to hoard more”

    Oppressor days are here again
They’ve lost respect for all things
    Decency has eluded them
They’re the worst of all the bad kings

{Yeah, we could make a new start
make a few simple guidelines that
    everybody would want to follow.
Imagine a world where every human is
encouraged and supported to discover and pursue their unique gifts and passions
    as their life’s work.}

It’s the end of oppression as we know it…
