Executive Order 9066 was signed by Franklin D. Roosevelt, and placed thousands of American people of Japanese descent into “internment camps.” Performed on the anniversary of the title, this was the first time Jonathan Segel and I performed together publicly. We tried to comment on, with music, the atrocities suffered by these people at the hands of the U.S. government during WWII. It only rings truer in today’s political climate. Other than these ideas, it was freely improvised. He played laptop, violin, and trumpet (briefly) while I played guitar. |
