	Story Behind the Song This song was written as a sort of romantic fantasy I had loosely based on my ex-girlfriend leaving the island while I was left behind. I am left to contemplate reasons and dream of taking her away to somewhere quiet where we can "hide awhile". I wrote it for a singer-songwriter audition in Hollywood. Lyrics Caught in places where no one says what they mean to say We're all a bit pretentious but let the pretense fall away The night is pressed tight against your window seeping through the panes While you sleep off the alcohol designed to kill the days I will take you away tonight Somewhere we can hide awhile... And I will take you if you let me tonight We could fly away together, but you've got to hold on tight... Reaching roadblocks made of old clocks and your broken dreams It seems we live for nothing yet life is nothing like it seems A small town girl with a city gleam: left to pursue better things I never fit those plans you had but still your memory stings So lose the scenes and cigarettes You're only chasing silhouettes Stop trying so hard to forget The things that haven't happened yet
