Story Behind the Song
December 26-29 2000 We played at a winter retreat in Northern California. It was the first time we had spent a designated amount of time with two people that supported our band from the beginning. Searching for a topic for our next song Tyler (lead vocals) asked them what they had been going through lately. Marcia and Megan had both been dealing with "the trusting God for the future issue". Just so happened that so had allot of the guys in the band. We all went away to our cabin and about an hour and a half later "Today" was born. If we knew then what starting this band would take out of all of us, we don't know if we would have started this thing. Don't worry about tomorrow, we have enough to deal with today.
Lyrics
I remember the days when it used to be so easy,
Who knew what responsbility was supposed to mean
But now the clock has turned, and it stares me in the face
Every step seems like a choice to me
Tell me can I trust you
Now I think I have too
To be honest I am afraid
You have brought me this far, and I want to go higher
I can't see tommorrow, but thats ok
I'll give you tommorrow, and I'll take today
Maybe it's comfurting that I'm not the only
I stopped her yesterday, and her eyes had come undone
She said "Do I stay or do I go, Do I run or do I hide, Do I shake your hand say hello, Kiss your cheeck say goodnight
All of these things I love, and I worry today
Tell me can I trust you
Now I think I have too
To be honest I am afraid
You have brought me this far, and I want to go higher
I can't see tommorrow, but thats ok
I'll give you tommorrow, and I'll take today
Yeah Yeah Yeah
It's like when I first left home
What was I doing
Or when we started this thing, what were we thinking
Now that I look back, oh what were we thinking
Tell me can I trust you
Now I think I have too
To be honest I am afraid
You have brought me this far, and I want to go higher
I can't see tommorrow, but thats ok
I'll give you tommorrow, and I'll take today
