    Story Behind the Song
This is a song for Parry Silcox's new film "DiskoTek." Other work I've done for Parry includes "True Love Wastes Away (Dance)," which was the theme from his first feature, with Ilyssa Bozza, "Papasan."

The song is about some friends of mine who went out to watch a meteor shower in a field way out in the middle of nowhere. They were run over by a truck while lying in the field.

    Lyrics
    staring at the stars
    watching out my window
    one hand on the wheel
    the other on your knee

    face looking forward
    eyes looking down
    listening to late night talk
    waiting for the sun

    lying in the field
    counting back from 50
    daring you to get up
    on the count of three

    half of it was blood
    the other half was water
    counting back from 50
    saying your name

but you could have kept me bottled up for years
but you could have left me rotting here for years

    staring at the stars
    looking for a phone
    sleeping in a waiting room
    waiting for the sun

    reading in a magazine
    a real life rescue queen
    her story is a movie
her life a page of dreams

but you could have kept me bottled up for years
but you could have kept me bottled up for years

    waiting is forever
and the news is not good
    you are full of saltwater
    you are full of dreams

    falling trees are fake traps
    that crash without a sound
    they reach for your back
    as you hit the ground

    (wait)
but you could have kept me bottled up for years
but you could have kept me bottled up for years
