A tongue in cheek look at materialism in America. Jimmy Buffett could have written this one. You know, my view of the world through cheap sunglasses ain't too bad. And, in this day of economic uncertainty it's just bad financial planning to spend more than ten bucks on 'em.

    Story Behind the Song
You know, my view of the world through cheap sunglasses ain't too bad. And, in this day of economic uncertainty it's just bad financial planning to spend more than ten bucks on 'em.
During the early '90s I spent a lot of time in Panama City Beach, FL. I met a lot of spring-breakers from all over the North and South and the eastern coastline. And, it was always a hoot to see them coming in: 6 people crammed in a two door hatch back, drinking Milwaukee's Beast and living on potato chips and twinkies. But, sporting shades like Ray Bans, Oakleys, and Vuarnets.
This song was totally written on the road between Tallahassee and PC.
It's not surprising that this was the first song I recorded in Nashville. After all, it has been my #1 seller.
    To the beach!

    Lyrics
You see him on the beach
And you see him on the street
Struttin' along in the Florida heat
    His muscles are ripped
    And his body is tan
    Huh oh, girls look out
Here comes the Ray Ban Man
Well, he looks like Tom Cruise
    Or maybe Magnum P.I.
    Arnold Schwartzenager
    Or the F.B.I.
    Every man's got a right
    To wear what they please
    But, c'mon a hundred bucks
    For a pair of these
    CHORUS
    The Ray Ban Man
    He really thinks he's bad
    Sportin' those shades
He thinks I wish I had
    I tell you right now
    I'm not going blind
And, cheap sunglasses suit me just fine
    I mean, what's he think
    They're gonna help him
    Pick up chicks
Just put 'em on his face
    And she's on his %#$@
    So, I'm telling you boys
    Hold on to your money
    Cause cheap shades like mine
    Have undressed many fine honeys
    REPEAT CHORUS
    Well, that's just about
    All I've got to say
    So all you boys
    With Ray Bans and Vuanet
    I bid you farewell
And I wish you good luck
Just remember it's not the shades
    That's gonna get you &%?#@!
    REPEAT CHORUS
