Story Behind the Song
The lyrics for this song grew out of the line: "This downhill track is easy but there is no turning back" which a friend suggested to me over the phone one evening. I loved the line, and already had a melody for the song which these lyrics fit perfectly. The rest of the lyrics were built up around that line.
What does the title mean? The words "Juan Circled" are actually sung, in a very deep voice, under the chorus. If you listen you can hear it. But what do the words: "Juan Circled" have to do with the rest of the song? Actually, nothing. They were just the right sounds at the time. Sometimes you just have to trust your instinct.
Lyrics
I'm so strung out and out of mind, leave me behind.
I've followed you as far as I can go, but now I stumble.
Morality, subjective at the least, has cornered and condemned me.
So don't deny me this maudlin song
I need some solace like everyone
your silence makes me feel this way.
And I know my time has come now.
Had it all, but I lost you somehow.
This downhill track is easy but there is no turning back
to where I was a year ago, when you first blew my mind
A crowded room, a year from now, you'll see me and look the other way.
So don't deny me this maudlin song
I need some solace like everyone
your silence makes me feel this way.
And I know my time has come now.
Had it all, but I lost you somehow.
