Story Behind the Song
Another Brian Jones Was Murdered era song that came after the "Death of a Popstar" recordings. This one is a bit of a realization song. You spend your whole life rushing to grow up, rushing to get out of school, trying to achieve your dreams, and one day you wake up to realize all the years that have gone by. I myself to realize I was rushing to a future that had already past. People and things you think of in the present tense are actually from years before.
This was my first attempt at writing an Oasis style balla.d. I included an acoustic mix of this song because I felt it was just as good and relays more personal emotion. I'm particularly proud of the guitar solo, both electric and acoustic, on this. The drum beat was not my first choice, there should also be a drum bit at the end of each break, like a false ending, but I'm not a drummer and it was hard enough for me to program the simple beats I used on the drum machine.
Lyrics
Yesterday, I think it was, I knew you so well
or will it be tomorrow, but tomorrow never tells
could it be a lifetime that Im running from my past
running to the future but my future time has past.
Everyday, is the first day of the rest of our lives
Tomorrow only knows if well make through the night.
Was it just a year ago, two or three or four
that I knew you, I knew you so well.
Could it be a lifetime or two or three or four
that I knew you, I knew you so well.
Solo
Was it just a year ago, two or three or four
that I knew you, I knew you so well.
Could it be a lifetime or two or three or four
that I knew you, I knew you so well.
Everyday, is the first day of the rest of our lives
Tomorrow only knows if well make through the night.
could it be a lifetime that Im running from my past
running to the future but my future time has past.
Yesterday, I think it was, I knew you so well
or will it be tomorrow, but tomorrow never tells
Was it just a year ago, two or three or four
that I knew you, I knew you so well.
Could it be a lifetime or two or three or four
that I knew you, I knew you so well.
