Story Behind the Song
I was lying in bed one morning with a new comforter that seemed to take me forever to save enough money to buy. It was such a good feeling waking up with something so soft, fresh, snuggly and new. I thought, "Hey, it is just me or would anyone else think this is this wonderful?" and the rest is history.
Now I had to make the song about something other than a comforter so I decided on love. I used some old lyrics I had laying around for ten years and there you have it -a song is born.
I took what I had to Brett Wilson, who helped me arrange it and did a real great country sounding version, but I wrote it with a Reggae beat in my head and that's where Dave Waterbury took it for me.
My biggest challenge was in the beginning of the second verse. I really struggled on finding the proper words to convey the feel I wanted this verse to start out with. Finally I decided on "Stretched out". It's not a word one might hear too often in a love song, but I think it captured what I was looking for. Dave helped me sing it in such a way that seems to lighten it a bit.
This song has such a different sound (I'm still not sure where it fits), but it's upbeat and light.
Lyrics
It took me so long to find you
So many faces, so many names
Oh how you scared me
emotions stir inside
strong as a hurricane
my heart caught in the eye
Chorus:
Hey, is it me?
Or is this wonderful.
Hey, is it just me?
Or is this beautiful?
I never dreamed
I'd fall in love with you
Hey is it just me?
Or do you love me too?
Stretched out on a blanket
Grass cool beneath our feet
Long gazes tell me love has begun
my smile give me away,
but I'm not the only one
