Story Behind the Song
The song was written in about 2 days. I wrote it in the mud room of my house, away from the noise of video games and tv sets. My daughter was an inspiration to me while writing. She danced and sang the chorus with me and fell in love with the song, adopting it forever as her song- as it should be.
Lyrics
Near your heart, inside your soul
I'll surround you,
keep you safe from the cold
Do you know, do you wonder, do you think its right when forever lasts the night?
(Chorus)
When your day is done
Will the angels above fly over?
When your daylight comes
Will the river run to the ocean?
I walked along the sandy shore
And I looked out, heard the ocean’s roar
And I knew, I knew someday you’d return
And beside me, we would be here
(Chorus)
When your day is done
Will the angels above fly over?
When your daylight comes
Will the river run to the ocean?
When your day is done
Will the angels above fly over?
When your daylight comes
Will the river you run roll on…
to the ocean of love.
All your memories are fading again
All your heartache can feel like a friend
I believed in you like I needed you
I believed in you
Great rivers run slow and wide
I know you think youmay be wasting your life
Keep the current near your side
you’ll get there
It’s a matter of time, you know.
(Repeat chorus)
Run me to the ocean my love
Run me to the ocean my love
Run...
