Esteem is a song that displays the unique style of rock that this band has engineered. The female vocals are fluent and cultivated, with an unforgettable finish. The guitars show off by grooving steady in the verse and punch into distortion in the chorus. The drums pound on you in every song, and this one is no exception. There is never a dull moment in these drum tracks. The bass gives Esteem that thunderous edge that every rock artist desires. To not only be incredibly unique, but also to have something that will appeal to the masses. You've got to hear this!

    Story Behind the Song
Esteem began (as do many of our songs), with Sullu laying his main idea for the untitled piece on the Korg.they are very fortunate in the fact that they can go back and review their ideas. So after "his turn in the basement"Spoonatic went down to review sullu's ideas, and to get the feeling of what the song was saying, and how she wanted to paint the canvas. After a few days of brainstorming, the vocals were finished.Although before it hit the studio there were some minor adjustments.Nevertheless, when the boys(Jizzo and Re)arrived a few days after the start of this new material, they dug right in and brought it to that next level. When you hear the bass and drums working together with the guitar and vocals, you'll see why this song is a cut above the rest, and why this band is destined to be heard by many.Esteem was completed in the studio in 2002.All 4 of these songs were all on track and edited in one weekend. The vocals were done in one take,on all songs (thank God) we were pressed for time as it was, due to the perfecting of the guitars.Sullu is very particular, and had rhythm and lead to conquer. The bass and drums were down in minimal time.Really, alot of of time went into editing, and the final result was good enough to distribute, but still felt that the song had a lot more to offer than the recording they ended up with.Dead Friends began to start their own recording of Esteem, and will be added to the new medley which will be ready by march or early April.
when you listen to this tune, you'll feel like you can "take a bullet and not die."

    Lyrics
    can't get outta' these long
hard days it's like I'm liv'n on a stage day by day my time is wasting awa-iting
for a ride to the outside
    I'm goin' goin'goin'goin' down south
sick of life, sick of you, sick inside
gettin' me high for the night
    just one more line
we've got enough to make the room spin
I'm gonna rape you take your mind and break it!
    Step in immortality
    Chorus:
On this very day,I swear that I could take bullet and not die
you see I, I was born in the middle of the night but I was'nt born last night.x2

I'm ready now to step from the edge not afraid to face them no more fear to shed
a secret incantation on the inside
controllin' the tides and baby you'll be all mine
Sick of life, sick of you, sick inside
within me lies the rivers that never dry
when we come, sayin' where have ya been
I'm gonna leave you behind for no reason.
    Step into my lunacy!

    Chorus:X2
    instrumental
I like the way that you come into me
wish I could put you in my shoes
Ilike the way that you come into me
I like the way you move
    Some behave!
    and my rivers bend!
    consider it my friend!
    consider it done
    Chorus:
