The new recording of Lament - this is closer to our live version, where we show off a little bit and play with our musical talents at the ending. |

Story Behind the Song
We were going for a more tragic, darker version of what was already a good tune, and found it by tuning Kev's guitar down to C. This allowed a greater leeway of vocal range for me, and we decided to enhance the effect of the song by ad-libbing the ending somewhat. It's one of our most popular live tunes - and yes, I really did hit that note. :) - Lady Sable
Most of you are probably already familiar with this baby. Many of us in the band have long since dug this song, and those who are close to the band list this song as one of their favorites. When we played this song live, the effect was enormous. Sable hit the highest notes I had ever heard come out of her, and the roar of the crowd blasted me after the last few notes of the guitar faded away. This song is dedicated to our friends and our loyal fans; you are truly immortal. - Kev
Lyrics
The darkest shade of night
Unveils its despair once again
The hunger pains you
You must feed again
Blood again stains your soul
Are you satisfied?
No, your desire still burns strong
For suicide of the dawn
CHORUS 1
One heart's desire still a thousand years old
Immortals cannot die, bloody tears that which you cry
For love is forbidden
The lament of immortality
You prey upon another victim
Another life you will claim
To another moon you can awake
So you can feed again
You long for the final sunrise
To feel it burn away your eyes
You drank life's wine
You will live one more day
CHORUS 2
You almost hear the moon's mocking laughter
The trail of blood follows you, the cries of anguish consume you
Forever you long
For suicide of the dawn
SOLO
Crawl into your coffin
Slumber is your escape
No more will the love
Or heartache rape
REPEAT CHORUS 1
REPEAT CHORUS 2
