Story Behind the Song
This is the best mid-life crisis book ever written. I get a lot of request for this song from parents. It was easy to record, but some of the song was created on the spot, in the studio. I ususally play the songs for months, live, then go into the studio and plunk it down in an hour. This was more of a production.
Lyrics
Oh, The Places You’ll Go
You got brains in your head, feet in your shoes.
And you can steer yourself any direction that you choose.
You’re on your own, and you know what you know.
And you are the guy who’ll decide where to go.
Wheeee, the things you will see.
Oooooh, mad just for you.
Whoa, the face you will show.
Whoa, the places you will go.
Out there things happen, and frequently do.
To people as brainy and as footsy as you.
When things start to happen, don’t you worry, don’t you stew.
Just go right along, you’ll start happening too.
Except when you don’t, cuz sometimes you won’t.
I’m sorry to say, but sadly it’s true.
That ban-ups and hang-ups can happen to you.
Sometimes you’ll escape all the waitin’ and stayin’
And find the bright places where boom bands are playin’.
Banners flip flappin’ and you’re riding high, ready for anything up in the sky.
Ready because you’re that kinda guy.
Out on your hike and I know you’ll hike far.
Facin’ your problems, no matter what they are.
Step with care and great tact, and remember that life’s a great balancing act.
You’re off to great places, today is your day.
Your mountain is waiting, so get on your way.
