A hard, driving beat, anchors this song about coming of age in the 60s, and remembering now, just how great it all was, way back when. |

Story Behind the Song
Last fall, a 60s rock and roll band got back together in a recording studio one more time, for one magical weekend, in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. The song we created was a reflection of coming of age in that Camelot, viewing it now (as we must), 35 years on.
Lyrics
The Older I Get, The Better I Used To Be (Performed by The Mo’ Betta Band)
I’m not saying
You could’ve loved me mo’ betta
I’m not saying
You should’ve loved me for free
I’m not saying
You should’ve sent me that letter
Seems like the older I get, the better I used to be
A long time ago
We thought we’d live forever
I carved your name in that oak tree
Our dreams were so big
We knew we’d stay together
Seems like the older I get, the better I used to be
The older I get, the better I used to be
I’m still running
Running from my destiny
We were 16 that year
Weren’t nothing mo’betta
Seems the older I get, the better I used to be
(Guitar Solo)
You’re too hard to handle
I don’t want to fight
I just want to see you tonight
I don’t want to try but God knows I will (I will)
When everything’s wrong and nothing seems right (right)
I hide in my room and turn out the light
I don’t want to cry, but God knows I will
Until you walk through that door, once more
The older I get, the better I used to be
I’m still running
Running from my destiny
Hold on to your dreams
Follow them forever
Seems like the older I get, the better I used to be
Seems like the older I get, the better I used to be , the better I used to be
