Story Behind the Song
Story behind the song?
part of a tragedy
Lyrics
In the Empire’s dominion a world state, suppression forcing out all other concerns,
where the bookends of the visible spectrum sit 2 shades of red, distinguishable only to the pundits, who claim an infinite variety & call each other Demagogue & Republicrat, all who want to incite war, the lords, the swords, the money from the poor, the bodies you adore, the children you call yours, the testimonies swore, the oxygen suck, & they’re fighting in the courts, & they rub perfume on their sores & take a day off to the shore, where the sharks will circle more, when the body parts are tore, & the elephants & bears are killed to keep alive the very few who still survive in a world torn by war
& a break from the future brings us here
& we remember all the books we hold so dear,
statues only damaged by anti-personell mines,
& paintings only oxydized by light & smoke,
& we return to after from before
& art no longer matters anymore
& the Empire bravely screams for blood,
& the papers they decree to the wealthy underground
they think will buy forgiveness, cos they did it on purpose,
rid of the world they want to process into paper
& today the sun is warm & the geese pick up pebbles
& the pebbles turn to stones, & the stones turn to blades, & the blades into bullets & the bullets into bombs & the bombs turn us into soil.
