Story Behind the Song
This song was 99% Tak. He had all the parts in his head, it was just a matter of formatting once we all knew the chords. The words and melodies wrote themselves. We recorded our rehearsals during the song writing process and I would pick the best lines and melodies. Once I had a general idea about the lyrical content, I continued with the anthemic theme of taking control of your life.
Lyrics
There are souls being sold today
No matter what the people say
And he may say, he’s your prophet
But you can’t see the money in his pocket
It happens more and more each day
It happens more and more and more and more
Buckle up and let your people pray
There are people walking down the street
Never once looking at their feet
They may say they know where they’re going
And you may ask, but nobody’s knowing
It happens more and more each day
It happens more and more and more and more
Listen up to what your people say
There are souls being sold today
No matter what the people say
He may say, he’s your prophet
But you can’t see the pennies lining his pockets, no
It happens more, it happens more and more each day
It happens more and more and more and more
Listen up to what your people say
It happens more, it happens more and more each day
It happens more and more and more and more and more
Listen up to what the people say
