Story Behind the Song
I wrote "Morning Light" in 10 minutes. It was one of those songs that hits you square in the face and you just have to write it down... no matter what! Inspiration like that is rare and you have to take advantage of it when it strikes. I had this version recorded at home in about 2 hours. I would love to hear backing vocals, some fiddle, pedal steel on this as well.
Lyrics
VERSE 1
Headlights roll down an empty highway
Thoughts I had once begin to sway
I can only hope that in the morning light
That things will be alright
VERSE 2
Her letters told me I must come
But when I got there my mind went numb
I can only hope that in the morning light
Things will be alright
CHORUS
Alright
Can't it wait till first light
Then you'll see our problems will be
Alright
Roll over babe, close your eyes
Meet me in the morning, it will be
Alright
VERSE 3
I can't see why after all this time
You can say goodbye and be just fine
I can only hope that in the morning light
Things will be alright
BRIDE
Even when darkness falls and stars shine bright
I've still got you, in my sights
I'd cross deep rivers, and climb great heights
Just so long as in the morning
Things will be alright
SOLO
VERSE 4
Driving down that old highway
Thoughts I had just won't go away
Now I know that the morning light
Doesn't make things alright
CHORUS
Alright
Don't let it wait till first light
Talk to me right now, it will be
Alright
Roll over babe, open your eyes
Talk to me right now, it will be
Alright
OUTRO SOLO
