Story Behind the Song
This song was inspired by my good friend, who used to cut herself. She has 50 scars on just one arm.
Lyrics
Here lies a broken girl, who liked to lick her wounds
Here lies the broken dreams which were promised to her
Here is the place where she found comfort in herself
Here is the heart that she gave to no one else
What did you tell her?
You told her that her eyes would never see
What did you say to her?
When she couldn't stop cutting?
Lydia, Lydia had her filling
Oh Lydia, she doesn't know what she's missing
Can't go to your mother
You have no father
So you turn to your hunger
And watch yourself slip from the night
This is your secret
Can't tell anyone about it
You smile as the blood drips down your arm
Every little scar you make is like giving birth to a new child
Every little drop of blood makes you smile
Happiness in the knife
Lydia, Lydia had her filling
Oh Lydia, she doesn't know what she's missing
She turns to me and says,
"Sometimes living in the shadow
of a false hope is better than nothing
And someday you'll wake up and realize
That you're just a person."
Lydia, Lydia had her filling
Oh Lydia, she doesn't know what she's missing
Lydia, Lydia has no feelings
Lydia, she doesn't know that she's dying.
