Story Behind the Song
I was spending too many nights hanging out with friends in a 24 hour restaurant. This song's a daydream about a waitress. A relationship without ever having a conversation.
Lyrics
Maybe I've been digging redheads or I don't like their hair so short anymore...well, we're all subject to change...Then she turns to me...gives me a smile...says, "come back any time. I'll be here waiting"...or maybe she didn't say any of those things...but I'll still be coming back for more...Come next December, I'll be wondering where she's gone...and why she left me here...(Over poetic lines and coffee she sees me)...And I don't mean to be overly dramatic like a crying boy crying over spilt milk everyday...that's why I'm led to say she doesn't mean everything...she doesn't mean everything to me...To me!...If it's now or never, then I think never would be the case...I've let her get away...She was just another pretty face to fade away...On a summers day she should tell me, "I'm walking out...I'm walking out...I'm walking way the hell away from everything that's ever kept me here...So, won't you come along?...Please come."
