The excitement of falling in love. | MP3.com CD: Mellow Out - buy it!
Credits: lyrics, music, and vocals by Linda McKeeth |
Story Behind the Song
I have a good life and am very happy. I have true, lasting love from friends and family. I wouldn't trade that for the exciting, but short-lived, feeling of infatuation. Sometimes, though, I miss that excitement that comes from falling in love. When I was married, I could evoke that excitement over and over again by falling in love over and over again with my husband. So if you are married, you are lucky. You don't have to look outside that relationship for this excitement. It is all right there in front of you. Keep it alive.
Lyrics
I WISH
by Linda McKeeth © 5/9/02
When I see a couple walking hand in hand,
Smiling at each other. My wish comes again.
I wish I could feel how it feels to fall in love,
That happy, happy feeling, I once knew of.
I wish. I wish. I wish.
I wish I'd feel the butterflies and all the giddiness.
The clinging to each other, the passionate kiss.
I wish. I wish. I wish.
When there was another who shared his life with me.
I could bring this feeling anytime to me.
I'd take the time to remember happy memories.
I'd take the time to ponder his fine qualities.
I'd fall in love again.
I'd take his hands in mine and pull him close to me.
I'd gaze into his eyes, and kiss him tenderly.
I'd fall in love again.
This part of love's not lasting. It is fleeting.
But it is a part of love, and so exciting.
I wouldn't choose this feeling over lasting love that's true.
But sometimes I miss this feeling, and I feel a little blue.
I wish. I wish. I wish.
I wish I could feel the tingle that comes from a touch.
I wish I could feel those feelings, that emotional rush.
I wish. I wish. I wish.
When I see a couple walking hand in hand,
Smiling at each other. My wish comes again.
