Story Behind the Song
This is about the power and the freedom that God brings to three downtrodden people.
A small beggar child with a crippled mother and an impugned young woman facing an angry crowd are both touched by the liberating words of Christ. The third, living in modern times, is touched no less.
Lyrics
Verse 1
I was born near Galilee.
I turned ten in 32 A.D.
Mother was crippled and I was a beggar.
A fatherless beggar, two mouths to feed.
Others would shun us; we of the devil; sins of our fathers; shame of our people.
But then one day time seemed to stand still.
Someone had changed things, and looking at me he said.
Chorus
Let it go, let it go.
I am the chosen one to deliver
and save all the wretched.
Rock of the ages, mover of mountains.
Tell all the lonely little ones
They are free if they believe
believe in me.
Verse2
There was a young woman, tender in nature.
Locked in by circumstance, not of her own will.
Women would blame her, men would enslave her.
She needed their money, but hated it still.
Then one day they did condemn her, came to hurt her, throw some stones, set an example.
But he stood between them and looked in her eyes.
He saw the child, she saw the Lion of Judah
and he said,
Chorus
Verse 3
You might feel the weight of the world on you.
Broken heart, broken home, only sorrow in your life.
You might wonder just who would take you, stand up for you, mend your spirit, share your strife.
Well I am here to tell you . . no you cant buy it, you cant earn it, you cant steal it you cant search the world to find it.
You need only ask and it will be given.
Blood of the Lamb, ask the I am and he will say.
Chorus
