Story Behind the Song
This was the first song put down by the MOU on tape...the beat was selected almost at random, and MC Kinesis started rapping, having never heard the lyrics. It is called lucky break because there is a spot when the beat changes, and it seemed to mesh perfectly with the pace of the lyrics...it sounded like it was planned, which was a good first start, and so the MOU's enthusiasm began to blossom...
Lyrics
What’s a guy like me got to rap about
It just don’t work when I sit down and shout it out
Perhaps I should just try to write and just get by
On all the crazy doings that be passing my eye
Hmm, well, maybe I’m blind, and I just can’t see
But my mind starts to think that maybe it’s me
Cause I’ll be honest, there’s no hood, no Compton G’s
Just a couple of white kids trying to be MC’s.
We got no cash to talk about.
No bitches to sock about, nothing in the way of clout.
So what’s it all about?
A love for rap, and trying to put some out
Back to my point, perhaps a joint might help out my thinking
But that did no good, so now I’ll have to turn to drinking
Glug, glug, glug, glug
With my proper fade on, then I’ll start to flow
But the only thing to flow was guts out the door
I guess from now on, to drugs, I’ll have to just say no
Now ill, no will, it’s just ten till
I’m supposed to go on stage and give ‘em a thrill
I’m stuck, no luck, just wasting my time
While I should have been thinking bout composing a rhyme.
