Story Behind the Song
This was the Christmas present spoke of in "Leading Somewhere". This is looking back over a long relationship and essentially, looking back on life. I could see all the opposition and the learning that it brought.
Lyrics
LEARN WITH YOU
by Linda McKeeth © 12/01
I'm writing you some words,
I hope you'll put the music to.
Then it will be a song
Shared by me and you.
They're words about the times
We were together and apart.
How even in those harder days,
We still spoke heart to heart.
Chorus:
Where there is love, there is life.
Where there is life, there's happiness and strife.
Opposition in all things,
It's the learning that it brings,
And I want to
Learn with you.
Some years they were quite lean,
And other years saw plenty.
We jumped between confusion
And crystal clarity.
Feelings of being cramped,
And times of room to spare.
We had our share of woes,
And days without a care.
Chorus
Whether living in the country,
Or in the city loud,
Skies sparkled with the brightest stars,
Or held the darkest clouds.
There were times of peace.
Other days we had no rest.
When we struggled with the worst,
From within us came the best.
Chorus
Bridge:
I guess that some would say
We just didn't find our way.
But I guess that I would say,
"Crooked or straight,
Early or late,
One look back,
I see nothing that we lacked."
Being a husband and a wife,
Noble roles for any life.
I'm a mom, you are a dad.
The greatest joys we ever had.
We laughed and we cried,
At least emotionally side by side.
For the strength of having a friend,
Is knowing they're with you thick or thin.
Chorus
And I want to
Learn with you.
